This painting was made shortly after the 2024 presidential election. As a Jewish and Mexican woman, I was feeling unheard and afraid. I am afraid for my immigrant mother, for other immigrant families, and for all women. To express these emotions, I painted a self-portrait enveloped by symbols of the current political climate. I substituted printer paper with transfer paper to mimic the texture and appearance of newspapers, emphasizing the weight of these issues.
